Last year I made a video on the cheapest  way to buy and sell SGX stocks in your own   CDP. But since then, the cheapest way has  changed. And if you're still buying and   selling your CDP shares the old way, you  could be overpaying by up to 10 times. In   this video I'll show you the cheapest way  to buy and sell stocks in your own CDP,   so that you never overpay again. Let's not  waste any time and let's jump right in. So, the whole point of CDP is that your shares  sit directly under your own name, rather than   the broker's. And with it, you'll receive your  dividends directly, you'll get to vote, and of   course, you also get to enjoy free meals at AGMs. But the catch with CDP has always been the cost.   Buying and selling through the traditional  CDP-linked brokers is not cheap. It usually   costs S$25 or more on every trade, or basically  6 plates of cai fan, without the fish of course.   This is especially painful if you often  trade small amounts, or you trade frequently.  So how do you keep those CDP fees as low  as possible? Let's start with the buy side. If you want to hold shares in your own CDP  account, the cheapest way to do it is to buy   via FSMOne. But isn't FSMOne a custodian  broker? If so, why am I mentioning them?  That's because FSMOne has 2 things going  for it. The first is that it lets you   transfer your holdings into CDP for free.  So you buy your stocks and ETFs on FSMOne,   submit a transfer form, and ding, your  shares land in your CDP at no cost.  This is unlike most other custodian brokers,  where transferring into CDP gets you slapped   with a S$100 fee by the broker, and another  S$10 by CDP, which is quite expensive. And second, FSMOne's fee is incredibly low.  For SGX stocks, they charge a flat S$8.80 fee,   and for SG-listed ETFs, it's S$3.80. Or if  you buy ETFs through a Regular Savings Plan,   it's basically free, since FSMOne waives the  whole trading fee on those RSP purchases. Now,   technically this is a promo that can end anytime,   but it has been running for years,  so chances are it'll stick around. That said, buying through FSMOne  does have 2 downsides. First,   you have to manually fill in the CDP transfer form  yourself, which can be quite mafan. And second,   the transfer is slow. According to reports, it  could take around 2 to 3 weeks to go through. So, if those downsides bug you, the alternative  is to buy through a moomoo CDP account,   or a DBS Vickers Cash Upfront account.  Both come in at around S$10 minimum,   with moomoo charging 0.22% of your  trade value, and DBS Vickers 0.12%. The upside is that your shares will go straight  into your CDP, with no form to fill and no waiting   weeks for the transfer. Of course, you pay  a bit more for the convenience. But if you'd   rather not deal with that form every time you  buy, this is your next cheapest way into CDP. So that's the buy side. As for the sell side,  the 2 cheapest brokers are POEMS and moomoo.  Before this, if you wanted to move your shares  out of CDP to a low-cost broker and sell there,   CDP would charge you around S$10.70  per counter just to transfer them out. But now, both moomoo and POEMS cover that transfer   fee for you. So not only do you  get to transfer them for free,   you also get to use their low commission  pricing to sell. And how low are we talking? While traditional brokers charge S$25  or more, POEMS charges just a 0.08%   trading fee with no minimum, while moomoo  charges a 0.06% fee, with a S$1.98 minimum.  This means if you're trading less  than S$2,475, POEMS is the cheaper   option. Anything more than that, moomoo  ends up cheaper. And in your first year,   Moomoo will even waive the commission entirely,  dropping that S$1.98 minimum to around S$1. Not just that, both of them are running  a transfer promo from now till the end of   the year. For moomoo, you'll get up to  S$2,500 worth of trading cash coupons,   or even an iPhone 17 Pro Max, when  you transfer your stocks in from CDP,   and fulfill the terms and conditions.  And on POEMS, it's up to S$1,888. And the best part is, it's super  easy to do. You don't even need   to manually fill in a transfer form  like you're back in the stone age.  For POEMS, all you gotta do is go  to their CDP Transfer Request page,   which I'll link in the description below, click  on the Transfer Your CDP Shares Now button,   then just fill in the form and you're good to go. And on moomoo, just open up the app,   tap on Accounts, More, and select CDP Share  Transfer, then fill in the rest of the details.   And if it goes through, the transfer will  complete in just 5 to 7 business days. So there you have it, that was a  quick guide on how to save money   buying and selling your SGX stocks in CDP. If you're interested in using any of the   brokers I mentioned and don't have an account  yet, you can sign up with my links below and   get some welcome rewards. Anyway, that's all  for this video. Hope you found this useful.   Like, share and subscribe, as I'll  be posting new videos every week.
