Full Transcript
Every 3 months we get the opportunity to look at what some of these super investors, the famous investors, famous executives, companies have done in the previous quarter. What they bought, what they sold, what they're holding right now, what their top 10 positions are. But that's important to understand that it is not something that is real right now. Whatever they bought a quarter ago, they might have already sold right now, or they might have bought more. We don't know. But that's very important to understand whenever you see these types of videos, whenever you see these types of articles. They didn't just buy this, although my title might say it. Sorry, the YouTube game, but at least I explain it. But this is what has happened over the past quarter. And so these are quarterly SEC filings required from any institutional manager overseeing over $100 million in US listed equities. But what it doesn't show is of course short positions, cash, bonds, or non-US listed holdings. And so today we're going to go over all of this list. Warren Buffett, Nvidia, Chris Hoan, Bill Ackman, Terry Smith, etc., etc. Now if you look at the difference between a Berkshire Hathaway and everybody else combined, Berkshire is by far, by far the biggest. Now, with regards to SpaceX, we already have a couple of companies and super investors that have a stake or have shown a stake in SpaceX. We have Nvidia here with 33% of Nvidia's entire strategic stake is in SpaceX number two position after Intel. AMD also has a stake in SpaceX is the single largest disclosed equity holding. Third point by Daniel Loeb also a brand new position last quarter. Appaloosa Management, which is David Tepper, also a brand new position worth 38.4 million dollars. Moving on to Berkshire Hathaway, we have 29 stocks, but I'm only showing you here the top holdings, which is Apple, American Express, and Google. Combined two tickers is already now the third largest holding. Then we have Coca-Cola and Bank of America. They did increase their position in Alphabet this quarter, 37.8 billion dollars actually, which is bigger than 14 of the other 15 funds entire portfolios. Just shows you how big Berkshire Hathaway actually is. They did add 44% to Delta Air and 30% to Lennar, and their new tiny position was in D.R. Horton. Moving on to Bill Ackman, I'm not going to spend that much time here because we did cover that whole portfolio in another single video. Uber is now the largest holding there, 12.72%. Brookfield is number two, Microsoft is number three, then we have Amazon and uh Triple H, which is Howard Hughes. We don't have any Google Alphabet anymore. They did, of course, add Visa, Mastercard, S&P Global, Netflix, and two other uh positions as well to the portfolio, fresh positions there. But Uber is now the number one holding in that portfolio. Amazon was cut by around 25%, Brookfield by just 4%. It's interesting why they did cut Amazon by 25%, and yes, he does own Meta, but Meta is not a 10% position, it's just around 9.2% or so. Looking at a family office in this case, we do have Peter Thiel here. Eight stocks, number one, Amazon, 28.2%. Nothing has changed there, but it's quite interesting to see that his portfolio is very much concentrated into AI data center power demands. We have Amazon, we have Vistra, we have Vista, we also have American Electric Power Company, which is 10.1% of the portfolio, and First Energy, which is 9.8% of the portfolio. That company is worth around $27.4 billion with American Electric Power worth around $68.38 billion. So, here I would say Peter Thiel thinks that the bottleneck is energy. And so, he's playing it. Of course, he owns Amazon. You have the cloud growth and everything else. And then you have all the other players here. Vistra, Vista, American Power. I think it's quite clear why he does it. If you want me to dive a little bit deeper in Vistra, for example, do let me know in the comment section below. Right now, we can see that this company is worth just under $50 billion. Year-to-date, it is down 10.3%. Over the past year, though, it is down 25.5%. Margin-wise is okay. Trailing PE 25, forward PE 14.5, PEG ratio 0.3. Okay, that's that's quite low. If we're looking at the growth here, we can look at the Let's look at metric templates. And then we can see what's expected from here on out for a couple of these things. So, revenue is expected to grow over the next couple of years. Not super fast. You might have assumed that this is a company that might grow super quickly, but we're looking here at this year 24.5% growth, then 11%, and then close to 7% in fiscal '28. Operating profit is fluctuating. Free cash flow is, of course, expected to go up just because revenue is expected to go up. CapEx is expected to increase. Moving on to the next one, and that's David Tepper's Appaloosa Management. 25 stocks held. Number one here is Amazon. He did add to that. Amazon is close to 16% or was close to 16% of the portfolio. Micron is 15% but it did slash that position by 41% which is the biggest single trim of the quarter. Then TSM at 10.5% Google 8.7 Uber 7.43%. He did add 55% to Amazon, 22% to Uber, 7% to Google. Of course brand new stakes in SpaceX, Coreweave, Boeing, American Airlines and a Broadcom. He did add an extra 4% to Nvidia and what's interesting is that not many of these funds and super investors actually own Nvidia or actually add to Nvidia in recent quarters. Very interesting. Now as for the trimming here, he did cut Alibaba by 42% Qualcomm by 50% Whirlpool by 63% and 11% in AMD. Looking at third point Daniel Loeb here 38 stocks held. We're not going to go through all all of them. We'll look at the top holdings. He does have here at the number one spot Warner Bros. Discovery. It's very interesting that he has this right now in Q2 but okay. 11.6% then Amazon 9.1 Google 8% then we have CRH and TDS. Now he did add or increase his Google position by 486% but it was a small position to start with. Brand new positions are Warner Bros., Keysight, Block, Flex, Hut 8, TTM Technologies, Ares Management and of course like we said before SpaceX. Amazon is the number two position but that got trimmed by 10%. Up next here we have David Einhorn from Greenlight Capital. Also a lot of names in the portfolio 46 stocks. The number one position here is Green Brick Partners, which is a company worth $3 billion and that's 19.3% of his portfolio. The number two position at 6.24% is called Fluor Corp, a $7 billion company. Number three is a bit more famous, I would say, is the Canadian National Railway. That's $106 billion. That's company number three here at 4.67%. Now, the brand new positions in his portfolio, there is a very interesting name here. It's Future Brands Innovations, Versagent, Primo Brands, PayPal, Warner Bros. Discovery here, as well, PVH, and Comcast. I I do wonder why they add Warner Bros. Discovery in Q2. Very interesting. They did cut Centene that position by 40%, Versant Media by 37%, and Synnex by is a home builder company. And this is a company that has actually done quite well. It's up 172% over the past 5 years. 2.4% over the past 12 months. Year-to-date, it's up 11.4%. Trading PE 10.6 times. Forward 1.4. Margin-wise for this type of business is quite good. Let's have a look at the financials and maybe the expected growth. So, for revenue, expected to be, well, going down 4.4% this fiscal year, then up 5.76% in the next one. Operating profit is also expected to improve a little bit. Free cash flow, as of right now, you can clearly see, is a bit all over the place. Interesting. Apparently, it's been his largest holding for many, many years. Moving on to the next one, which is Seth Klarman, Baupost Group. 23 names here. By far, the largest position, that's Amazon at 16.4% of the portfolio. He did add 20% to that, did add 16% to Alphabet, which is worth around, let's call it 9% of the portfolio. They did also buy into Bill Ackman's own Pershing Square uh stock, but it that's a very, very small position. Moving on to Howard Marks' Oaktree Capital, although I do think it is part of Brookfield for couple of years now. 51 stocks held, so basically an ETF. Coloplast A/S, which is the Danish company, is still the number one position here at 13.87%. Expand Energy is the number two here at 12.64%. He did buy new companies, so Sea Limited is one, MakeMyTrip is another one, Matthews International, Quantum Corp, very strange addition, and Surgery uh Partners. As for Terry Smith, Fundsmith, a portfolio that has been underperforming for a long period of time. 41 stocks held. You can clearly see that there was broad trimming across uh the board. Alphabet down 40%, Fortinet 41, Philip Morris 43, Texas Instruments down 31%, Idexx down 30, ADP 33%, and Meta also a cut of 20%. His new positions, which is here Uber, which is already 4.73% of the portfolio, includes of course Uber, Mastercard, GE Vernova AppLovin TJX Nextracker Vivint Smart Home Systems, Yum! Brands, and uh FICO. Visa is also a 5% position for him, but it did trim uh that one. Moving on to the last couple of names here, Chris Hohn and Chuck Akre. Chris Hohn, 11 stocks in the portfolio, top positions are GE 33.5%, so quite a concentrated one. Visa at close to 20%, Moody's 12.3, and S&P Global at 10.87%. Did increase Google by 12% and did trim Canadian Pacific Kansas City by 3% and Canadian National Railway by 4%. As for Chuck Eker, top position here by far, 20% MasterCard, Moody's 10.2, Brookfield 10.1, KKR close to 9%. Looking at Francois Rochon, 51 stocks here, number one position Google 7.1%, then we have Meta at 5.74%. But number two at 6.38% is a company called Heico Corp. It's a $44 billion company that provides aerospace, defense, and electronic related products. The fourth position here, 5.2% is of course Charles Schwab. Looking at Li Lu from Himalaya Capital Management, only eight names. Google number one position almost half of the portfolio. PDD, sorry, Pinduoduo 12.17%, Berkshire close to 15%, and then East West Bancorp at 9.68%. He did add 134% to Pinduoduo and 23% to Berkshire Hathaway. Pat Dorsey and then we have Dev Kantesaria at Valley Forge. He did reduce, although many people have told me these are just outflows. Top holdings are still FICO, S&P Global, Moody's, and MasterCard. Pat Dorsey number one position is SML at 16.6. Then we have AppLovin, Royalty Pharma, and Booking Holdings. Now, the biggest buy of last quarter was of course Google Alphabet. That doesn't mean that it was the most bought name. Warren Buffett alone bought $37.7 billion of it. But as you can see, there were only four buyers and 26 sellers here for Google Alphabet. As for Amazon, we have 11 buyers and 19 sellers. Meta Platform, 14 buyers, 14 sellers. Uber we have 444 here so only four buyers, no one sold Uber. As for Microsoft, barely anyone touched this. One buyer, one seller. Nvidia we have five buyers and 13 sellers all in all, which again is is quite interesting. AMD only one trim is is not really a name that's very very popular with these super investors. Now we do have here a comparison between two quite famous investors in this AI space, Gavin Baker and Brad Gerstner. As for Gavin Baker, 32.5% of his portfolio is SpaceX right now. 16.4 is Q puts. Then we have 5.7 in Micron, then we have Cerebras, Meta calls, A lab, etc. etc. Brad, number one position here is 19% Nvidia, 16.2% Cerebras. That's a super high conviction on a fresh name, probably well maybe because they already own it before. 7.7 in Meta, then we have TSM, Core Weave, Arm, Amazon, Uber, Snow, Microsoft and other 10 positions which are 16.74% of the portfolio. But it is quite interesting to see that SpaceX makes up 32.5% of Gavin Baker's portfolio, which makes sense when you listen to him talk about SpaceX and the potential there. And so right now if you want you can pause the screen so you can have a look at the number one position for each and every one of these investors. And so all in all that's about it. Don't forget that all of these things happened in Q2. You know what happened just after Q2 ended. And and that's going to be interesting to see what many of these investors have been buying especially in July, early August. But for that we will have to wait another three months or so. For me, the team here is quite clear. Most of them are still buying these high-quality names, and of course, the AI semiconductor names. But nothing here really shocked me other than maybe some of the sizes of the buys and things like that. But all the rest is business as usual. That's about it for me in today's video. See you all in the next one. Bye-bye. >> [music] [music]
