Watch real yields, meaning interest rates minus inflation. When real yields are high, hard assets struggle. When policy makers start capping yields or tolerating inflation, then the reset is starting to show its hand. The biggest danger isn't being wrong about a financial reset happening. So, I think the next reset has already kind of started here. The starting gun wasn't a crash. It's an interest bill. The debt shrinks in real terms and so do your savings. They're robbing you. The debt problem is a very, very real issue. 40 trillion dollars in debt is insane. Now, back, of course, in the 1970s, the dollar stopped being convertible into gold. And ever since then, it's been an absolute [ __ ] show. In the early 80s, interest rates went close to 20% to break inflation. I remember my dad telling me like back in the 70s, I came back from the service and put a bunch of money. It was like earning 15% of my my bank account. I was like, "Oh my god, what?" [gasps] In 2008, rates went to zero. Central banks started printing money. Now, each time people who noticed early protected their wealth in these situations, people who didn't lost it slowly, and usually without ever understanding why. So, I think the next reset has already kind of started here. The starting gun wasn't a crash. It's an interest bill. The United States now spends more on interest than well, almost the military. I think they've upgraded the military spending recently, but they spend about a trillion dollars a year in interest, $2.9 billion every single day. Only Social Security, Medicare really cost definitively more. The fiscal year that just ended left gross national debt at around $40.25 trillion debt held by the public is about $32 trillion, roughly the size of the entire US economy. The deficit came in near $2 trillion, means $2 trillion a year, plus gets added every year to the balance sheet. That happened to full employment exactly when deficits are supposed to shrink. Now, the final account, it's still climbing every year, though end in sight. In fact, debt the government borrowed at near zero rates is now maturing, and it's being rolled into a world where short and medium-term yields are often above 4%. The average rate on US debt right now is still only around 3.5%. So, the repricing has not finished. The CBO projects debt heading toward 120% of GDP by 2036 with interest costs near $2.1 trillion. And now add a second giant borrower. To build out AI, hyperscalers have issued more than $200 billion in bonds this year, more than double last year's numbers. The weaker players are already cracking. Core Weeb's bonds have traded around 77 to 81 cents on the dollar, yielding 15 to 16%. Yo, I mean, if they don't go bankrupt, [ __ ] that's a great deal. Gartner sees a roughly $4.9 trillion gap between what data center owners need to earn by 2030 and what AI is forecast to bring in. Ray describes this as a supply problem. Total net new US debt counting government, corporate, and everything else is headed to four four and a half trillion dollars a year. It's a lot of money, man. And when supply outruns buyers, yields rise. Higher yields grow the interest bill, and a bigger bill means more borrowing. See the problem here? The the loop becomes a death spiral very quickly. It almost never pays debt back through austerity. It does it quietly. The US issues the world's reserve currency. So the risk of outright default is very very low. Situation can change in terms of reserve currency status, but right now it's very low. The more likely path is a grind. Inflation runs a little hotter than interest rates for a very very long time for decades. Policy makers keep real yields low and the dollar slowly buys less. Economists call this financial repression. They're going to inflate away the debt. We've talked about this before, but it's worth repeating because it's so effed up. The debt shrinks in real terms and so do your savings. They're robbing you. What is what saying robbing Peter to pay Paul? Well, they're robbing you to pay down the debt. That's the reset. That's the part they're not telling you. There's no announcement, no date. You just see it in your grocery bill and in your savings account and how everything just buys less. So, how as you an investor, how do we position for this? You know, gold. Yeah. Okay. Usually sits at the core of conversation. We're Bitcoin guys. We're going to talk about Bitcoin, but gold, okay, let's give it a moment in the sun here. It's the traditional monetary hedge. Central banks keep buying it. uh nobody can print more of it. Dalio's point to gold as a larger hard money position. He's got like 85% of his wealth sitting in gold ETFs. The catch is that it pays no yield and it can get lag when real rates in the dollar are strong. And we are potentially facing lab grown gold in the next few decades which is a very big problem for the price of gold too. Bitcoin that's the that's the baby man that's the one higher risk of course but its supply is fixed at 21 million coins outside any government's control. It's a global asset. Dallio suggest in holding a bit for just uh putting it alongside gold. Liquidity analysts like Michael Howell argue it's highly sensitive to the kind of money creation that could follow when debt maturity walls hit. But be honest about it, okay? Bitcoin's had a rough year, but perhaps it's setting up for the next major run. It has lagged gold in a massive way over the last 12 months, lagged stocks and the AI trade and everything else. And most importantly, it hasn't behaved like a clean debasement hedge in the short term. Ray Dallio said that Bitcoin failed as a inflation hedge, that it failed as a digital store of value. Doesn't mean it's not a good asset to hold, but just that it's not digital gold. That's his opinion, not mine. But okay, that's why frameworks that include it usually keep it to smaller single digits. Personally, it's like half my net worth, but hey, everybody, you're going to do you, I'll do me anyway. Also, in this whole situation, perhaps actually stable coin plays like Athena or Circle become really interesting because of future US stable coin dominance. Then of course we have real assets, you know, real estate, rental properties energy materials whatever that kind of stuff. It's also interesting in that scenario. Stocks probably keep going up too. But Bitcoin in particular, I think in this whole conversation becomes probably one of the most interesting asymmetric bets that you can make. Now, the other side of this whole conversation is AI productivity could actually grow the economy fast enough to make this debt manageable. The way rails and electricity did previously, rates could fall, in which case long bonds would rally hard. And the reset, of course, isn't binary. If growth holds and inflation stays moderate, ordinary stocks can do just fine. And here's what actually matters. You need to think in years, not in weeks here. Most people in the market, they they want to get rich overnight. I know you want to be the guy who buys the memecoin, turned in the million dollars in a few hours. It's not going to be used. Just stop it. But maybe go consider buying some Bitcoin as a wealth protection asset for the long term. Buy some quality altcoins. Buy some quality stocks, like things that are more likely to go back up in price. This all plays out across maturity walls and gradual inflation and short-term prices can diverge wildly from the long-term story. Bitcoin's 2026 is proof. Okay, it's been a weird year for Bitcoin when it probably shouldn't have been, but it has been. Watch real yields, meaning interest rates minus inflation. When real yields are high, hard assets struggle. When policy makers start capping yields or tolerating inflation, then the reset is starting to show its hand. The biggest danger isn't being wrong about a financial reset happening. It's obviously happening. The biggest danger is betting so heavily on one outcome that you can't survive the years that it takes to arrive. Okay, buy Bitcoin. TLDDR, buy Bitcoin. Anyway, just stop worrying about the $40 trillion. They're literally going to inflate away people's life savings. Good, honest, hardworking people, you know, people like my dad, dad's old enough now, he's probably not going to see the, you know, the worst part of this play out, but people like my dad, you know, been diligently saving his money and, you know, putting it into very lowrisk stuff, you know, bank deposits, whatever, and bonds and, yada yada yada, keeps a lot in cash. And it's like, man, that cash you keep, I often give the example, I'll give it again, like if my dad had taken a, you know, $100 bill, put it in an envelope and put it in like a safety deposit box down at the bank the day I was born. That would have been a lot of money for him back then. Okay, mid80s. 100 bucks. That was a lot of money, man. A $100. Take your hat off, boy. That's a $100 bill over there. Now 100 bucks is like lunch. Maybe in America, probably not even if you got to put a tip on. I mean, you're going to some shitty fast shoot food place. Yeah, sure. We go to like a restaurant. It's lunch. Maybe maybe it gets a tip, maybe it doesn't depending where you are. That's it. It's not [laughter] great, is it?
